With the presence of COVID-19 in our community, all of us are making adjustments to follow the public health guidelines for social distancing. Counseling, coaching and financial therapy are not exempt from these suggestions. Fortunately, current communication technology offers effective ways to stay fully connected, at a distance. I have been using teletherapy with some of my clients since 2013. There are many benefits to teletherapy. It has become a valuable communication tool for therapists and clients. Most importantly, my clients tell me that online meetings are effective and they are happy to stay connected with me via teletherapy.
You may be like some of my clients who truly enjoy the convenience of meeting with me from the privacy of their home or office, where they are able to control their surroundings. Some clients have found it is actually easier to express themselves when they are in their own familiar settings. In years past there were concerns about maintaining privacy with online connections. The truth is that with contemporary encryption protocols, teletherapy can be completely secure.
I will keep the same meeting schedule with teletherapy so appointment times will not be different from in-person meetings. You will be able to choose an appointment time that fits your schedule, and you will have the benefits of zero drive time. If you are new to working with me, just use the form below to begin the scheduling process.
“In my meetings with Brian online, he is patient, respectful, and clear. He has helped me troubleshoot and solve problems I was struggling with on my own.”
With the COVID-19 pandemic and the necessity for social distancing, your mental, emotional and physical health are very important to me. During this time while my office is closed to clients, I will continue providing the therapy services you want and need. With teletherapy, you will be able to continue your ongoing sessions or begin new services. I will resume in-person sessions once the quarantine passes and we can assure safety for everyone involved. After the quarantine, you will be able to continue teletherapy sessions if you find they are more comfortable or convenient.
The economic losses caused by this pandemic have severely impacted individuals, families, and businesses across our community. Unfortunately, the financial consequences will radiate into the foreseeable future. Personal incomes have been reduced or eliminated, and many household budgets have been stretched or turned upside down. Difficult decisions and adjustments in financial plans will be inevitable. I will be here to help navigate these challenges by offering financial therapy and coaching sessions via teletherapy.
By utilizing teletherapy, you do save yourself some time. You will not have travel time or time in the waiting room. This convenience is extremely beneficial for people who have a long drive to my office or other challenges that make traveling difficult. Also, with teletherapy, people who live outside of Oregon are able to meet with me for financial coaching services.
Technology You Need
Online teletherapy is very simple. All you will need is a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a webcam, microphone, and Internet connection. I use Zoom for my online sessions. You will simply follow the link that I email before the beginning of each meeting. We can also arrange sessions via telephone if you prefer or don’t have access to the Internet.
Teletherapy is a safe way to begin or continue counseling, coaching, or financial therapy. Right now you may be unfamiliar with online meetings, but with a little practice, you will soon become comfortable. There is no reason to lose important connections while we are in this public health quarantine. Please contact me below to schedule a session, and download the Teletherapy Instructions PDF to ensure you have what you need before our meeting. I look forward to speaking with you.
“I have been working with Brian for slightly more than a year. When he initially suggested we meet online, I was skeptical. I was concerned the impersonal nature of interacting over video would hamper our communication and diminish the quality of our sessions. Then came “the virus.” With office visits no longer possible, I decided to give the Internet option a try. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was an effective alternative. The Zoom link is easy to use, has a good picture and no sound delay or breakup.”
